Evening all - looked at a cladding job today but it would require the flue changed on the boiler 24 CDI since it would be 85mm to short. Now is there any work arounds this type of problem or is it a new flue - anyone offer advice as I was wanting to do the whole job without using any third parties? qwerty

If the flues been cut down to fit the situation its in, then you just need to buy a standard flue for that boiler and cut to suit, If its an extended flue then you need another extention, Flues can usually be extended to a max of 3 metres if its in a straight line, but if bends are used its shorter, and it depends on how many bends you use, there'll be a chart somewhere on google to give you acurate figures, smiley-talk002 I'll dig one out for you,

I'll price the standard flue up I assume it's just cemented in and has to rope seal to protect the tubing from the possibility of cement corrosion?

they do a telescopic flue, if its that type then you just need to dig it out take out the self tappers that stop the flue from moving and readjust to suit, If the the type you have to saw down, you'll need a new one,

Update - got the job and done all the mods to allow the external cladding install.
I found the flue was best extended from outside,by having a coupler made at the local sheet metal firm at cost of £25.
Now this meant no inside distruption to the internal building fabric and took a couple of hours off the job (which had been priced in and approved so a good saving) - new flue kit £65 so £40 better off on materials there as well finally this meant the original flue end piece was reused and you couldn't tell the modification had been undertaken which pleased the customer. 6XqEngr88r5GlWolCJDi

well done Battle using good ole common sence and a bit of thinking out of the box, If you printed this on screwfix you'd have 'davetalksgas' reading you the riot act and if the barmy army over at the combustion chamber saw it, there's be a 300 page write up from all the qualified semi skilled gas operatives who think that ONLY THEY can touch boilers because their ticket says so,
up you gas wankers, smiley-taunt005 show bum

If I had to wait for a gas plumber I would have made no money - "it's a War out there, up here in the North" Cheers Tom.
