I'm now fast approaching my final 3 months in plumbing and I thought that it might be an idea to record a few of my end of career jobs that are now typical of the kind of jobs that I now do. This is one that I did late last year.

Brilliant Tappy, chinky blow pipe , flux brush cooling and snot removing tip, as well, Tappys memoirs , another plumber preparing to leave the, 'thrust and cut' end of everyday plumbing repairs, The new generation of plumbers would , cut the pipe and use plastic to patch up, OK I get it, its quicker , cheaper in the long run and no one sees it but, They've lost that feeling of doing a permanent fix with solder, Tappy will be in his grave before that pipe needs fixing again , We are seeing here, history, In retrospect, like the last blocks of the Pyramids going in place. Keep em coming tappy, they'll be here for the historians to see and savour

I’m looking forward to few of your chronicled jobs Tappy. As Tom says most would of just used plastic and push fit to get the job done so they could play on their phone.

All true, the job and the people that do it are all now changing. I'm not sure either that the path forward is all that clear for the youngsters to follow as it was for me when I started out.
When I was a youngster the old plumbers then used to tell me that there was a lot of mistrust in copper pipe and capillary fittings when they first came out and they would have far preferred to have kept on using lead pipe with wiped joints.
I'll try and film a job every month from now until I retire.

I can’t remember the last time seen someone cut a board at an angle to make their life easier on the reassembly.

I've had this on my phone for the last 3 weeks and finally got round to editing it last weekend. Hopefully I'll do another one before I'm finally let out of the "Lions Cage"

I can't remember the last time i bought a newspaper, Probably 1970 ish and, It was the Daily mail for two reasons, It looked good in the windscreen of my van and i liked the cryptic crossword, I never read much past the front page, It was a brew time thing, front page, joke page, crossword and stick it in the window to impress the clients, I think it was 20 pence or there abouts,

I once worked at a large department store who employed a couple of full time electricians, they even had there own little workshop in a backroom. The theme that ran through everyday was the daily crossword in the daily paper. Between solving the clues they would get buzzed by various departments to fix a light bulb or some minor repair in the store.
I would call in their hut for my tea/dinner breaks (whilst I was working there) and also get roped into helping them doing ruddy daily crossword. If the crossword was unsolved the solution in the following days paper would be a point of great debate the following day!!
This was in the late seventies. I don't think that this type of job can exist nowadays?
