Who takes deposits from customers?
So this Aquabion valve is £540. A bit of pipe & other fittings £20.
The customer was pushing for me to buy it & get it fitted. No problems with that.
So I said I can get it on Monday as I know Williams has one in Slough as I rang them. Fit it on Tuesday morning.
Customer messaged me 5/10 times, excellent response both ways.
My last message said I’d need a deposit of 50% of materials.
Since then, nothing!
It makes me laugh.
Who would she’ll put £550 odd for a customer you don’t know?
Maybe it’s me. My gas mate said he’d want 50% upfront too otherwise he wouldn’t waste his time.
What do you do?

I'd have asked them to order it and once it arrives let me know and I'll come fit it.

If I don’t know them I give them all the running around and just tell them to call me when you’ve got all the materials I’ve listed.
I find they typically become very stressed as there’s always additional questions, that’s when I say send me a bank transfer for the parts money and I’ll get onto it.

As a used-to-be customer I think JC and Battle are spot on. Its a question and trust and it goes both ways.

Yep, 50% would be ok but I don’t trust them now.
They were messaging me asking this & that fir 2 days
Once I mentioned money, nothing, not a sniff.

There’s an old business saying;
‘Cash is King’
Now, that’s not referring to a bundle of 50’s under the mattress !!
No, it means; Cash Flow is key to a successful business.
Customers don’t get Credit in Asda, why should you give someone Credit?
Deposit & balance when the job is complete👍👍
P.S Get yourself a Card Reader, they’re as cheap as chips now & some only deduct 1-2% transaction fee, which you just add to the punters Bill👍👍

I use "sumup", im sure it will work the same from other apps.
Its in the app under "create payment link"
