there are transition couplings but, whatever way you do it will look a mess, If it was me, I'd drain down use a new valve with 1/2 inch FI thread, or convert to copper and join in a hidden place, under the boards or a void,

Cheers Tommy, no straight swap then. Bit of pipework alterations. No worries

I agree with Tom, if you have little or no experience on MI pipework, cut the 1/2” pipe 300-600mm below the valve & cut a thread on it. 15mm x 1/2” Female straight & offset a bit of copper tube into a 15mm Valve.....Job done!!
You’ll need Hand Dies & cutting oil👍

Lovely old rads, 1930's original. Haslam's Made in Alfreton, Derbyshire Cheers all

Ray, I think Tappy is right, according to your picture with the tape measure , the pipe is 3/4 and, that is 1/2 inch pipe so a valve with a 1/2 inch female iron thread would be the easiest option,

Let me explain further, on iron pipework, the outside dimension of the pipe is NOT the Thread size, so a 3/4 pipe is a 1/2 inch male iron, that will fir a 1/2 inch female iron fitting, I know, i know , its not logical but, that is imperial measurements,

So with a 3/4” dia. It’s a 1/2” thread. 1” dia it’s a 3/4” thread……etc etc etc
