An instantaneous water heater, redring 9,5kw. Swapped as old one was malfunction. The new one works twice then needs a manual reset, works twice & repeat. Just to kitchen sink, incoming main pressure good, short pipe run. Was too late to ring the manufacturer but I’ll ring tomorrow. This is exactly what is happening but I’m unsure of the fix. Anyone with experience of them? Cheers

I've had similar problems when I replaced like for like in a flat, replaced twice, still tripping, never found out why, put in a 10l unvented in the end.
If you call redring don't tell them it's on a sink, that's against their instructions. Basin only last time I looked.

I’ve had Redring one that would only work as expected by setting the temperature to the lowest setting within the the assembly.

I rang Redring this morning
The chap reckons it’s the tap.
The tap needs to have a hot & cold side rather than a one lever.
I’m swapping the tap on Friday. The LL has supplied it, prosthesis cheapest he could find.
I’ll report back

Ah,,, I've seen these taps that have a blow off built in internally , perhaps that heater needs one like that,,

I fitted a 15l a while back, the instructions asked for 2m of pipe from heater to tap or one of the blow off taps as Tom mentioned for expansion. Also needed a pressure relief valve terminating safely on the pipework to the tap.

Any Double Check valves on the Cold Main?

Redring have confirmed the install is correct The tap was changed as per their guidance but now they’re saying you need to fill the sink with hot water & then add cold after, basically you can’t open hot & then add cold within the tap spout Total nonsense What is the water scolded someone The LL is taking that issue up with them tomorrow
