BS 6891 I think it’s only 25mm from a Cable to a Gas Meter, but I’m not too sure?? It should not have been capped, it’s only At Risk & not Immediately Dangerous if the regs do say 150mm. Regardless, it looks like there’s enough play on the anaconda to move the Meter over a bit. Get a decent Gas Safe Plumber in to alter the supply pipe & move the Meter a bit. I’d charge minimum £80/hr + materials. Consultants Fee invoice in the Post JJ👍👍 Cheers Dickie, I found ( what I believe to be ) the relevant section. BS6891 section 8.4.2.1.b supply pipework must be at least 25mm away from electric switches, sockets and electricity supply and distribution cables. I have passed this on to my sister. I wonder if Gassafe would become involved, or if it’s even worth contacting them ?

If you phone them with a technical question, even an artisan as my good self. The plonkers just say ‘oh use your engineering judgement’!! Gawd knows what it must be like for these course cowboys, six week Gas course & they couldn’t put a nut in a chimp’s mouth!!

Bloody hell - how much I hate GS. If that was me I'd risk incurring the wrath of Dick ask on here and then at a minimum remove the cap myself (given its going to be fully checked in a few days/weeks when the plumber moves it). OR, even consider moving the meter but only if I got good enough vibes from folk on here (excluding Dick of course who I'm sure would tell me I'm a murderer for thinking about it Edit: Just in case someone reading this is more Daft than me - I'm a DIYer and my RGI number is a joke.....

You know, of late, I’m increasingly alarmed by the lack of Natural Gas smell, in eh Natural Gas!! It’s ironic, and this thread clearly demonstrates this, how not employing the services of fully qualified, knowledgeable & experienced individuals can lead to much stress, discomfort & immeasurable danger!! See, it’s people like Dafty, that fully understands the extent of exploitation & criminality, that makes the world a more dangerous place. Shut up & pay up son, you know it makes sense😂😂😂 10 dead in the ROI www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-63183510

Well, got a sort of result. Their registered installer is returning tomorrow to uncap their meter ( he says it’s because the supply company are taking too long 🙄🙄🙄) What a f*****g cop out. My sister ( following your advice here) told him the regs stated that they had to be more than 25mm from supply and distribution cables, not 150mm. Cheers guys and a big shout out to Dickie, who put me in the right direction to find the relevant section of the regs. At least she can now have hot water and heating ( probably be unable to afford it in a few months the way Truss and co are f*****g up the country) 😂😂😂😂😂

( they’ve already advised that the cost to move the meter would be ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, £900. 😮😮😮😮😮😮 ( so I’m fully expecting them to just turn it 90deg, using the anaconda pipe, and charge her £900) Literally a 2 min job and probably 20 mins testing. 😉😉😉 ( I’ve already told her to get BG out to service the boiler, so they can tell her “ We can’t get parts for your 2 yr old boiler, but can install a new one for £££ thousands ) 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Though it’s not clear in the photo & the meter support maybe an issue? But the guy that capped it can move the Meter slightly, test & recommission the Gas system. He got it wrong by capping the Meter & should sort his mistake FOC.
There’s no need to get Welsh Gas or whoever involved.
