I went to for that new radiator today. The customer left me to it.
Drained down, rad off the wall, new brackets on, all going swimmingly, went downstairs & said to the customer that someone wallpapered over the brackets, he looked confused & said it’s tiled. I thought he was joking, then I realised I was in the wrong room!!!!
So lucky I didn’t cut the pipes.
We both had a laugh about it as I cleaned 30 years of dust from behind the rad!
It only wasted an hour so not too bad
Close call though.
Had problems refilling, vented system, took ages, kept slowing the pump down & speeding it up, about an hour to get the heating going but all ok, everything nice & hot.
The old boy is pleased & warm.
Cheers all

Fitting a new replacement radiator can be like a look at the room "through the past ages" at times with all the different layers of wallpapers you find behind the old radiator . It shows that you don't have that "Gung-Ho" approach that can be many a plumber's downfall rocky. glad it all went well in the end.
