Does anyone use rad tails in a ballofix or coupler so the rubber sits on a flat surface or do you file them down?
Filing down is ok if it’s a new part going in but if you’re just connecting onto it them there might be no to manoeuvre & file.
What’s your way?
I’ve started using rad tails.
Cheers all

I buy a bag of ballofix and knock the edge off one side with a bit of sandpaper on a flat surface, only needs the first 0.5 - 1mm taking off. Rad tails are useful especially if the flexi comes up a bit short.

If I understand this correctly, I never file them, its a matter of using the right amount of torque on the washer, to my mind is finger tight, then a quarter turn with a spanner, Then examine the joint, you get a 'feel' when to , not go tighter and use ptfe if there's a weep,

Oh, now I get it!! Well, a rad valve tail is fairly flat, so yeah you could use them. However, as Tom has stated, it doesn’t need much tightening👍👍

Seems a decent idea to me rocky although I never thought of doing it during my plumbing career. I once had a lecture off another plumber when he got called to a leaking connector on a brass ball-valve that I had fitted which had cut into the fibre washer and started leaking saying to always file the brass tail on the ball valve before fitting so that it wouldn't cut into the fibre washer! I replied that I'm on bonus and wasn't going to start filing brass tails on ball valves that had a 15min fit time!!! Tappy,
