Hi guys, quick question what registration is required by law, to install wood burning stoves ? Asking as my youngest sister is having one installed, by what all accounts, seems to be a bloody chancer. He is gas safe registered, ( she has checked this) been going on for about 5 weeks now and tonight, he didn't have the part to seal some bit of the flue. She's just called to say water is pissing in through the bloody roof ( he has came out and has tarped it over and says he'll return on Saturday) 😲😲😲😲😲😲

It'll be HEATAS for fitting one of those log burners JJ.
Terribile organisation much worse than gas safe for implementing rules and regulations some of which are just plain wrong!

I have my drive done a couple of years ago, He did a good job and during a coffee time conversation with him he tells me, he is a registered solid fuel heated installer as well, I found this strange as, He explained that he prefered doing drives and fences but, in Winter when the ground is not as workable he fits solid fuel burners, He also made them from old gas cylinders, A bloke of many talents,

I fitted my own back in the days when I was transitioning from being really, really fking daft to just plain daft as you see me today. I followed some Hetas bloke who had a brilliant website covering every tiny detail. Also mine is in a brick chimney on the side of the house, had an existing 8inch clay liner AND my stainless steel 6 inch one went inside that so I feel safe. Of course as I found out a lot more to the requirements than that including proper hearth, etc. Feel sorry for you and your sister JJ. Can't imagine anything worse than a bad job AND having to pay for it. www.stovefittersmanual.co.uk/articles/
