A 1960’s toilet connector. All ok. Nothing wrong with it.
Toilet going to be replaced.
At my house.
How do I deal with it please?
The main soil stack is cast iron & everything is connected to it (bath, basin, toilet & kitchen sink).
Cheers all

Hello Tom So you think once that is removed I’ll then be able to use a normal pan connector. Do you recall what the waste pipes were made of in the mid/late 60’s? I can’t see it as it’s all timed in. If it’s cast iron I’ll be ok. Is there any chance of it being clay or something else? Thanks for your reply.

waste pipes were made in lead or copper before plastic came in but, you can get adaptors for both, Depending on what new toilet you pick, you may have to grind off the collar to the soil and its not a normal pan connector, Its cast iron pan connector, they are smaller in diameter, they are 3 inch or 3 and a half,

I think the best this to do is get inside the tiled boxing and see what I’m playing with. I’ll report back once I’m ready. It may not be soon!! Cheers Tom

As long as the existing WC connector is roughly 180mm from the centre to the Floor.

The connection looks a bit low to me and the position of the fitted WC outlet is right at the top of the soil pipe connection (looks CI) leading me to think that it's not the original fitted pan.
It may be worth sourcing an angled outlet P trap WC pan from a plumbers merchant rather than the horizontal outlet that you'll get from a general builders merchant if you are just renewing the pan.
If it's just the WC that you are renewing an old trick to improve that low angle is to bring the new pan forward a little.
Tappy,
