Going to remove an old rad in my sister's house. There's a 10mm flow pipe and 15mm return. Is it alright to use a reducer as an enlarger to change the 10mm to 15mm and then have 15mm on both sides of new rad? Why would one side be 10 and the other 15? Thanks everyone.

Yes, go ahead cynders it will be fine.
My guess as to the why is that a new valve was fitted a while ago and somewhere under the floor is a 15mm to 10mm adaptor?
N.B. Not all plumbers (me included) rate those compression ring reducer set ups and simply went with a soldered pipe reducer.

As my Learned Friend has stated, not a problem👍👍 If you use a compression reducer, only use the three part type. It’s much better to use a 15x10mm reducing coupling.

By three part type do you mean the normal two nuts cones and body type? Thanks again

That’s the 3 part ones I was referring to CF. I get OK with them. One man’s meat is another man’s poison!! 👍👍👍

Solder fittings if you prefer & there’s no water in the pipe 👍👍
