Anyone know the size of this strange pipe I came across? 10mm fittings are too big and and 8 mm fittings are too small. It has plastic white covering on the copper. From a 1980s house. I had an old reducer from a bidet which fits it but no olive so can't use it. Cheers.

I'm thinking that was for gas pipe to the fire, Its for hidden pipes that pass through the chimney , The plastic is to protect the copper from soot in the chimney, Soot eats into copper pretty quickly,

I know on the continent that they have different sizes of small bore copper and that they they never use reducers because they all fit inside of each other for soldering.

Thanks for replies. Got the job done today (the one involving those reducers I was asking about) All fine when I left......or so I thought. Repressurising boiler led to leak in an area I wasn't near. Every days a skool day and some days are krool days!!
