Customer with heated towel rail now only heats half way up ,,,so you think top full of air ,,,so try to bleed no air comes out,,up in loft checked header tank all good up there,, tried bleeding another rad no problem water comes out as it should which suggests that the header tank is all good,, so my question to you guys is WHY ?? Is this towel rad only getting hot half way up ,,,,, My thought would be to take out the vent plug and manually fill up with water then try to see if the rad gets hot all over...
Very interested in your thoughts guys thank you

If its physically sound looking a few wraps with a plastic mallet may get it flowing again.

As battle has said, it could be blocked/full of crap. These TRs generally rust up easily.
If all other Radiators are heating OK, you may need to remove it, take it outside & flush it with a Garden Hose👍👍

Those crap are so cheap. Tell them to replace it unless they’re prepared to pay you’re hourly fee until it’s fixed

Very interested in your thoughts guys thank you Could be the feed pipe from the header tank is blocked and it's simply showing first on the systems highest point Astra. Try the magnet trick at the point the feed pipe enters the system. Another one to check is to make sure that the pump is off whilst you are venting. Is it on a modern HEATAS solid fuel install? If so you'll most likely have to switch off all the electricity at the mains in order for it to vent (overide stats)!

Astra, I think your idea of taking the vent plug out is a good idea because, It might simply be the air screw os blocked, Taking the plug out just might allow it to fill up, Have a towel to hand just in case,,

Sometimes it shifts the blockage itself over time, especially if it getting an extended running period. Well done to you for giving the customer such service, many a firm would of taken her back teeth.

Sounds like a pocket of air & you managed to clear it mate. its funny how you can easily get air locks in CH pipes, on New Builds, it’s very complacent I know, but CH pipes are run up hill & down dale. Not a care or jot given to potential air problems. But you can get them!! Leaving the filling loop open when filling up, blasting up to 3Bar through it, you think you’ll never have a radiator not heating. However, it happens regularly; until you shut off all other rads & the circulation pump is pumping through that 1 air locked Rad, will it clear. Heating Homes is a complex business, never ever think you know it all, you don’t!

well done astra, Sometimes that just happens, the customer will not have noticed but, somewhere in the time you was not there, a glug and bubbled sound occured and it fixed itself, as others have mentioned, No one can predict what an air lock can do, sometimes just leaving it alone is the best option, I'm glad it worked out but,,, Do charge if only a small amount because, the old dear will want to be charged and might feel guilty about asking you back, The young un's will not but the old ones WANT to pay,

Good point Tom. Never thought of it that way but it makes a lot of sense.
