I’ve too much respect & adoration(in a manly way) to comment on our hosts video. As much as I also respect you Dick, I'd value your honest opinion on the video , I'm a MAN and can take any constructive criticism without holding it against you, I made my video's back in the early 2009 era to help the ccc's and the cowboy plumbers because, That's how I am, people who care share and I care about people, So lay it on me Dick , Tell it like it is, I promise not to tell how Olive screams ' WOW Tom thats a big un on my visits to Puller Towers,

One thing that you can credit gas-safe for is ending the huge black market (moonlighting) that was done by a lot of gas employees at the weekends prior to gas-safe.

One thing that you can credit gas-safe for is ending the huge black market (moonlighting) that was done by a lot of gas employees at the weekends prior to gas-safe. That would of course be BG employees, who aren’t allowed to be Gassafe registered in their own names ( unless things have changed ) I knew someone who worked for BG many years ago and he wasn’t allowed to undertake any “freelance” gas work as the gassafe registration was in the name of BG. 😞

I think it's an individual qualification now JJ, however, the inland revenue now have it all nicely covered in the need to register your work on the internet thus leaving a nice trail for the tax people to follow right to your door (Basil Fawlty quote "Nazi Germany started from small beginnings just like this" ).

I did speak with Olive this morning & she did concur, that it’s rude & would be viewed as simple jealousy, if I commented on your video. I’m to be the bigger man, though clearly, it’s you that’s the bigger man!! I can confirm Olive was fairly lucid at the time of our conversation, she’d only had half a bottle of Gin. And, as you know, being the wrong side of 3 bottles a day is normal for her. In my strict Protestant upbringing, I learned, one should never criticise your host.

I did force myself to watch it last night. He lost me about 4 to 5 minutes in when he seemed to completely disrespect non-gas plumbers. ".....technically a plumber could work here but to do anything useful you need to be a GAS SAFE REGISTERED ENGINEER !!!!......." Other comment is he was talking about electrics quite a bit and when he did so he was doing _exactly_ what he is ranting against. i.e. People doing dangerous work that they have no training in. He even gives the example of the DIYer doing work on car brakes. How can he be so stupid not to realise that is exactly what he is doing every time he opens a customer's consumer unit? He's no electrician and I wonder if they would have something to say about his comments that only a GAS SAFE REGISTERED ENGINEER can (for example) change a PCB. They might say what tests has he done before and after changing the board to ensure that his connections are safe, comply with the 19th and not a fire risk? It’s part of our training & permissible for a RGI to test the Electrics on the CH control system & boiler etc. With Safe Isolation procedures being paramount when testing. This testing is generally done as the Double Pole Fused Spur being the isolation point. Electrical Polarity, Earth Loop Impedance etc etc is all part of our remit. With appliances requiring Gas, Water & Electrics, Safety is essential & you don’t want some Chancer/Dafty DIYer messing with it!!
