What is it? Well, a HWPS is where a HW cylinder is on 24/7. With a condensing System or Heat Only boiler that can be set with reduced Central Heating Flow Temperature, HWP is essential, as the HW is likely to require a Higher Temperature & therefore run at an inefficient rate for HW.
Some boiler are ‘four pipe’ this simplifies the installation & controls wiring etc.

I would think that most boilers are set to give priority to the hot water over the central heating. The old programmers of yesteryear would have a setting for hot water only and hot water and central heating setting, none would have a central heating only setting.

We’re really talking Heat Only or System boilers here cf. With the more expensive ones giving more control options. Though the likes of the Intergash range, can offer a variety of options, on both controls & type of system. A wonderful boiler for the price!! For bigger properties, with a high HW demand, it’s really the best option.

I thought that I'd misunderstood what you was talking about as soon as I posted it. It's really more for hotels and bigger buildings with a high hot water demand then and places where you would normally find a secondary circuit in use for delivering the domestic hot water supply?
