turn off both sides of the radiator with the rad valves, relieve the pressure by opening the bleed valve, have towels ready to catch the water, when the water stops running, you have all day to change the blank and bleed valve, If the bleed valve is seized , just lossen the blank cap but unscrewing anti clockwise

no, as long as the both valves are working which will isolate the radiator, a pint or so,, will come out so, just go easy and you an tell by the pressure, at first you will get a blast but. that should ease, if it don't, then one of the valve is not shutting off, so you need to, retreat and reform your attack, It may need draining off

Yes, just bleed the radiator aj - no need for any sanding or wire wool.
Did you just use the black ring washer that's supplied with the new plug for the seal?

It's a very common leak to happen aj especially if that black rubber washer has been used. I'd remove the plug and black washer (if it's not already fell to bits) and wrap the old plugs threads with ptfe and re-use the same plug (it'll be a better job).

In that case AJ you could be a hero and,, unwind the screwed plug about one full turn, then wrap ptfe on the thread ( clockwise) and screw it back, its worth a try, have towels and a bowl handy,

tom can i be a bigger hero and swap plug without draining yes,, close both valves, have everything handy, towels on floor, unscrew the plug, the water will come at you, push your thumb in the radiator end, get your new plug wrapped in ptfe and quickly ,,thumb out plug in and screw it in, Warning,, you will get wet but, Its an a adrenaline rush thing and you will love it when you win,,,
