Better luck with this one tom. I think that you must have unfortunately got a rogue boiler with that last one. That heat exchanger looked in terrible condition. Although it's a little too late now that tom cat bloke recently also bought a new boiler for his training centre. Unfortunately, it’s Training Centres like Tomkat, that’ve killed the domestic gas industry. Pumping out 6 week Course Cowboys & Career Change Chancers!! One minute they’re collecting Supermarket Trollies or delivering for Amazon, and then 6 weeks later, £3-4K lighter, they’re fully qualified Gas Engineers?!.........amazing!!! Then there’s Companies like BOXT, that’ll employ said CC & CCC’s to fit your boiler!!........Ah, it’s a wonderful world👍👍 Ran my details through BOXT and they would charge 3.6K for their cheapest boiler. Doesn't seem like much competition to the local gas man to me.

I’d strip your old boiler & sell the components on eBay Tom. Thanks for sharing your test with us, I’d email it to Baxi & see if you can get a response.

great thanks Dick, I've registered this one for the 5 year warrantee. I used my old gas reg number and it was accepted so, old gas reg numbers must still be valid

the way I see it Tappy, We are protected by the, sale of goods act so. they are duty bound to warrantee a boiler and because, they sold a boiler to ' anyone off the street' me in this case ME , As long as its not fitted as part of a business and its fitted by a competent person, there is no problem, Although I've retired I'm still competent so, Its not a loophole, the fact that ANYONE can go into a plumbers merchants, or B+Poo or shitfix and many other stores, they still have a duty to sell an item with a 12 months warrantee at least and also expect that item to be fit for purpose for another 5 years . So dafty can go buy a boiler with confidence that, If he fits it, It will still be under guarantee BUT He would need a gas reg number on the application form,,

If an rgi leaves GasSafe maybe because they've retired they are not any less competent than the day before they left. So never mind fitting their own boiler, couldn't they in law actually continue to charge to fit boilers even if they are not GasSafe anymore? Who is gonna stand up in court and say you're not competent because you didn't pay your GasSafe subs ?

Gentlemen, let’s not get too carried away!!!.........The HSE are responsible for Gas Safety. Gas Safe are the body to administer the Regulations, Training & Registration of operatives.
Whatever you do, you install a gas appliance & something goes wrong, you’re responsible - regardless of competence or registration. You end up someones Cell Bitch in the Pokey Joe.
Unless Tom’s boiler is commissioned & the Benchmark completed correctly, there’s no Warranty on the appliance. And, unless it’s serviced & the Service Details noted at the rear of the Manufacturers’ Installation Instructions Book, the Warranty is void.
Given my Overheads & on-costs, I’m completely justified in charging £150/Hr.
As for individuals like Dafty, I wouldn’t let him near a Flat Pack Table assembly, let alone anything to do with Gas!!! Look at the questions he asks on here FFS!!.........he’s clearly as thick as mince!!
