Plum towers burglar alarm is giving problems and early indications suggest a problem on the 'tamper' system, That could be anywhere on the system so I said, fuck it. I'll replace the whole system, So I went online with my usual criteria of, best quality for least amount of money and got a, hard wired system for £150 which, includes the main control box, a keypad , 3 PIR's 2 door sensors, bell box, 100m of wire and a fused spur, I'm doing the job myself and got stuck with the bell box wiring because, the symbols don't tally up , I know basic names, 12v is live, 0v is negative, Tamper, bell, . trigger, strobe but, In the kit sent to me, The components are different makes so they are confusing, hers are pic of the wiring, the bell box or outside siren the connection in the main control boxAs you can see, Its confusing ( to me anyway) So I sought help online,

They don't make it easy do they? I had an issue 5 years ago when the 30+c weather would make my alarm go off, I swapped out the external box with a new one and the labelling didn't even come close to matching up between the control panel and the bell box. Went on a sparky forum and got loads of advice that didn't help, then did a continuity test and found 2 broken wires under a carpet that the carpet layers had cut through and badly reconnected years earlier. Repairing them solved it but I was close to giving up and getting a pro in. It's like plumbing I suppose, if it was easy to the inexperienced we wouldn't have a job

Fixing the bell box today and my erbauer screwdriver/drill fell out of my hand and fell from the gutter level to the ground, BUSHOugh... It lived and is still working, I've had that tool as a 'twin set' from 2012, a 10v tool well worth the money I paid, Then later in the day, I was using my 18v erbauer combi drill and the battery went flat, I have a spare so I put charged spare in the drill and tried to charge the flat battery but,,, The charger is not working, I've have that drill for many years as well so. I looked for a new charger but, I've found its cheaper to get a new drill with new batts and a charger, So thats where I'm going on Monday, A happy Erbauer Easter to all members and guests,

I'm still struggling with the installation AJ , once I get it up and running, I'll do a video because ,like JC say's, they don't make it easy and the set up is quite challenging, To me, I've emailed their ' help line' and they are slow getting back,,,

I'm making slow progress with this. I got a problem that I could't solve, a light was staying on indicating a problem on the tamper loops but all the tamper loops where closed as shut be, So I called the help line and no one was answering so I called the suppliers help line and they were more obliging, I spoke to an engineer and after a few questions and answers he reckoned there is a fault on the main PCB and admitted that, They've had this themselves so he sent me a new board, that sorted the problem and I got the installation up and running but, Programming it to do what i need is a challenge I have't conquered yet, I've set the key board in a situation in the hall so that, we have a short enty/exit point for going out or upstairs to bed, There ia also a PIR in the hall and that is setting off the alarm when, The problem with this kit is, there is no display to tell you what and how, to program it. you have to punch in a series of numbers and its confusing to the very low hard drive installed in my head, I had a good read at it today and now I think I know what I'm doing wrong, more to follow after tomorrows experiments,,,
