Hello
When I moved into my house I put an unvented in the loft. All pipes were replaced other than the hot water pipe that runs from the airing cupboard floor, under a part of the bedroom, under the bath & down to feed the kitchen.
Since then when the hot water is turned on for the first time there’s a loud clicking pipe expansion noise from under the floor.
It’s beginning to get on my nerves!
It’s also a real pain to fix it as it’s floors up & it’ll probably need to run above the boards under the bath to connect to taps & then go down to feed the kitchen.
What do people think of plastic pipe?
Cut off copper pipe at the bottom in the airing cupboard & then feed it through to bathroom & connect back near bath taps to the old copper again. That may work or if not I can feed it down to the kitchen in the front rear hallway cupboard.
Any thoughts? I can’t remember if this used to happen when my mum had the old gravity system but she used to complain of banging pipes.
Cheers all.

Check the Potable expansion vessel. Set the pressure to .9 x the Standing Water Pressure. Vessels are prone to vibration.
If it’s a pipe water hammer, fit a Shock Arrester on the pipe.
Ticking is pipe expansion noise & a hammer is water pressure.

I used to often find that a lot of noise on unvented systems was due to a faulty pressure reducing valve, often a knock knock knock noise when the hot tap is turned off.
If it is pipe expansion it will take a lot of luck to find using guess work. Hence a re-pipe (like you say) is the way to go. If 22mm is still present from the systems gravity days it could well be some tight against a joist this section which you could replace with smaller sized 15mm (as 22mm is not normally needed with a combi'.).
Although I prefer copper pipe plastic is fine, just remember the inserts and to lock the fittings (if JG type) in place.

Try reducing the pressure to see if that solves it.
