On Thursday of the week just gone, I arranged a meeting with the famous Sir Richard Puller MBE cultural attaché for Glasgow to the court of St James. He arranged a chauffer driven Lomo up from my camp site which took me to the Glasgow civic Hall , Where a Dolly girl took me up to Dicks quarters where , we disgust Anglo/Scottish plumbing techniques from 1970 to the present day ,It was a shame the Glasgow Herald reporter got lost in the midday traffic but, that's he's loss a generous buffet was laid on including chateaux de la bitter shandy and Dicks favourite nibble, Olives, I have to say meeting him was a delight, he is a gentleman and a leaned scholar, It was an honour and a pleasure to meet you Sir Tomplum your loyal subject,

While we banqueted on a very ostentatious buffet, I felt no pains of social justice for the poor of Glasgow - that funded our lavish meal. A very fruitful meeting, with many issues being resolved. Including the future membership of two people in particular, not to mention anyone - but it was Olive’s Sister & DaftyDIYer, both of whom have played a pivotal role in dragging the Forum down to a new low. I hope you’re enjoying your onward journey in our wonderful Jockoland. I can only reiterate my advice, any problems with the Rozzers, adopt the ‘knuckle crusher’ handshake & ensure you slip in my name into the conversation👍👍 Thanks Tom

I have to say going north was unexpectedly busy, the road A82 a two lane carriageway over the mountains has a constant flow of traffic on both directions and the speed limit of 50 mph was only complied to by myself so, I was a rolling ' road block' and made many enemies and, when the situation became available, cars wizzed passed me in groups of, swarming german cars, Beemers howdies and mercs zooming past like jets, Very disturbing and when getting to Fort William was surprised to find it was like Blackpool Promenade. I've no doubt its good for the Scottish tourist industry but its not what I expected and at our meeting we mentioned pot holes and. up till my trip over to Fort William, the pole holes on the mountain section are bad, really bad . I can't fault the Scottish folks though, most friendly and when I popped into a local shop for supplies the Lady at the counter said to me " Aye Laddie I ken where you come from, Gloucestershire right? " I just smiled and said, " how did you know that ?"

You did better than I do tom I'd would have needed a translator for the Glaswegian accent . I'm OK with the Edinburgh side of Scotland but I can't understand anything said in Glasgow!

The Edinburgers squeak & squawk, they speak like someone is rubbing their ballocks with a micro duster!! West is best!!

Actually Tappy , Dick was quite easy to understand he's not got a very broad accent, Its a more educated and you can tell he's used to public speaking as a ECO would be, He probably had a harder time understanding my Mid Atlantic Wigan accent because i forgot to take my ' sub titles' boards that I use when going out of Wigan, ,

I’m off to my cousins house in Tillicoultry in 3 weeks. There’s something that stirs inside me, crossing the border on any of the border crossings. Whether it’s on the A1, A68, A7 or M74. Always feels like I’m home 😉😉 ( although I’d be the first to admit, I don’t want to return there to live ) 😉

I'm surprised to hear you say that JJ because, I'd live there tomorrow if i could afford it and, thats backed up by the many people now who travel up there for, the freedom , the nature and the scenery, I stayed at 3 campsites and 2 were owned by English people, The last one was run by Lockerbie Council, Next time I go up there, and it will be soon, I'm going more off beat, maybe Mull or syke I love Scotland and if I had had the chance in my yoof, I would have leaned them about what shape a sausage should be,

Nah Tom, the SNP have and still are ruining my homeland. With their nationalistic pride, failing education system ( which years ago was the envy of the world) Their continued pandering to the sexual minority deviants ( just what is their interest in the sexual leanings of young, confused teenagers ? ) Taxation, housing, disregard for the Scots voters, the economy, inability to sort out crime, drugs, homelessness etc etc. One of my home town Faceache groups is full of tales of woe. Usually about gangs of feral youths literally terrorising the town, smashing car and house windows or taking drugs in plain sight of the public. Police Scotland nowhere to be seen ( probably playing cards in the back room of the station) Things are fast becoming a farce . Cynical ? Perhaps Tom, but I’m of a generation where certain standards were expected from all walks of life. 😉😉😉 PS, I’m glad you said you’d move there “If you could afford it.” The present Scottish Govt will ensure you can’t afford it 😉😉

Tom Scotlands government are in control of personal taxation in Scotland. Their tax rates are a bit higher than the rest of the UK. On top of that there's secondary taxation and ( slightly) hidden costs. In an attempt to cut down on alcoholism, they introduced minimum pricing for alcohol. Has it reduced alcohol related problems ? Has it f**k as like. Has it increased profits for brewers, distillers and retailers ? You bet it has ( as well as increasing tax payments to the government. My cousin lives in Tillicoultry ( near Stirling) yet is willing to drive to Berwick upon Tweed, once every few months on what she calls the "booze cruise" to pick up supplies of wine and spirits. She's not alone in this either. I know people in East Lothian who regularly undertake the journey to Berwick, to stock up on spirits . All is not what it seems North of the border. 😉😉
