Hi Dads combi, ideal logic combi 24 is stuck on central heating only, even when dial turned to water only its still cold ive come to the conclusion it's either the electric head not turning the diverter valve or the diverter valve itself. has anyone any advice or tips to prove which is at fault before I possibly buy the wrong part? thanks willo

Hi willo, I'm not well up with the ideal logic but I think there's a flow switch on the water side, If this is not working you won't get hot water, It might be worthwhile getting a boiler man in as buying parts can lead to wasted money, Sorry I can't be more help on this one,

The easy way to check if it's the motor or valve.... Turn off power to boiler and remove motor head , then hold in a position where you can see the plunger inside the head , turn power back on to boiler and get some one to open and close a hot tap if the plunger does not move then it's a new head required , if it moves in and out then its the main valve that is seized , have a look around the small pin in the middle and see if there is any sign of it leaking , if you can see water dripping out or brown crud around the pin then you need to repair or replace the valve , if it is dry with no signs of leaking then it may be the pin is stuck , this is usually caused by limescale build up inside the valve , get a small blunt tool like the head of some plyers and spray the pin with WD 40 then gently try and push the pin in , dont try to force it just a gentle back and forth motion and if it starts to move keep using the WD 40 to lubricate it and keep gently pushing back and forth , do not be tempted to get hold of the pin with the plyers and pull as this will brake it , when you can see the pin moving freely refit the powerhead turn the power back on and test the hot water , hopefully that will get it working for now but i would advise you get a Diverter valve repair kit and replace the dodgy parts , good luck...... This is what the repair kit looks like............ Attachment Deleted
