The tee for hot is lower than where the cylinder will drain so it will keep circulating.

What is the first tee for off the cylinder? That goes to the basin and utility room mate. You spotted early on the bad installation and you are half way there mate think of the dynamics

Could it have formed a sypon on the cold feed ? Sorry TP I missed your post and you were the first correct answer so you win, the bad connection to the cylinder feed was the Syphon so when the guy turned the shower on he was emptying the hot water cylinder. Congratulations!!!!! Send me your details via PM and I'll send you the prize.

Well done t.p!!!! I enjoyed that too tom, gets the old grey matter working. So it was the weight of the water in the cylinder pushing back and up cold feed and causing the siphon?

The water is in the pipework down to the shower so when he switched it on the Syphon was there just the same as it being syphoned with a hose mate.

you were on it early doors endfeed, you spotted the coldfeed tee in the wrong place and the hot not being as per MI's, so you were almost there,

Well if its pulling in air from how he's connected on to the top of the cylinder then that would cause the pump to burn out and not switch off as in reality it's really connected to the vent. This guy inherited it with the house battle, the capacitor on the pump had burnt out and split open I'll take a picture of the pump tomorrow as it's now on my scrap pile. The installation was horrendous
