After buying all sorts of water pump pliers; I bought the Knipex Cobra 250mm a couple of years ago & fook me they're great!! First tool out the bag. I paid just over 15 bangers on Amazon for them & they're the dogs danglers!!
Though I'm an auld Kunt I never really got into Footies, I have an old 6" pair that's great for traps in pedestals etc, but that's it. With Footies there's too much fannying around adjusting them.
I hope my ramblings have helped some poor sod that's got raging piles & a hangover from hell.

My current grip selection just needed a bit more leverage on the job in question See I don't like the Irwin grips, I always found that the adjustment button got in the way when tightening compression fittings. Dunno......maybe it's just me??!!!

your ramblings are always welcome here Dick, footies are quite tiresome at times but they work well, its always worth having a choice of weapons in the toolbag, even the old bed spanner comes in handy at times,

Its an old joke of Dicks, Old beds of the 50/60's had a head, tail and a springed frame between them, they all where held together with 4 bolts, It was normal to get a spanner to assemble the beds and the spanner was often laying about the house somewhere, It was quite common for a bloke just starting off in the trade to put the spanner in his toolbox to add to his tool collection, So if you met a bloke on site with the bed spanner in his box, You'd know he's a new starter,
