That’s very similar to my system however when I was running water through it at the weekend with all rads shut bar the bathroom I was getting flu and return, shut bathroom, open 1st bedroom all ok, shut 1st bedroom and open 2nd bedroom return stopped completely. If you have a one pipe system WN, have you fitted new TRVs? You need special TRVs for one pipe matey👍👍 All probs started when I replaced bed 2 from a single to a double, I’ve also replaced bed 1 and living room with no issues. I did notice a black sort of solider when I removed single rad in bed 2

All the first domestic central heating systems were one pipers usually done in the 60s so they are very old systems these days. If done right they work well, but they were very often not. Dev's on the screwfix forum has a part one pipe system/ part two pipes in his house, which leaves me speechless...yet he claims it works! They where many plumbers experiments with heating systems in the 70s! It was just that double radiators don't work very good on them and if wingnut had swoped his singles for doubles and they now don't work the pieces do fit together if it was a one piper. I now think it's a two pipe system that wingnut has now though - so I'd replace that lockshield valve and for a bit of extra security whilst it's drained replace the tee going to that lockshield valve as well. I’ll give it a go at the weekend 👍👍👍 It’s also worth mentioning there was an original double in the dining room running with no issues

I have noticed tonight (cos I’m that paranoid now) that temp differential between flow and return is twenty with return taking a looooooonnng time to heat up as in the flow gets up to 80 on boiler led and 60 on dial gauge and cuts out multiple times before return dial gauge shows 40ish

I did see a vid on the interwebs, I’m sure it was admins where a foot pump was used to shift a blockage, might that be a possibility? I do have the ability to open up both flow and return so that would remove the risk of damaging the boiler

looking at that list of rads, I'd say they are demanding a lot of input, those school type rads are not efficient they take a lot from the boiler and give a little out, So it might be a underpowered system,
edit, I've just re read your opening post, a Baxi 105 should cope ok, but what about the house, is it a semi, detached, old barn conversion, ??

Baxi 105he 28kw Strangely he school type rad gets the hottest (it is the 1st rad upstairs though) Semi detached over 100 years old with all brick walls (internal and external)

Have you turned other rads off & checked to see if they get hot all over?
Sorry, I can’t be bothered to read through the whole thread again
