If you turn all working rads off and the problem ones get hot but goes cold when you have all working it's either balancing problem or restricted flow. Hi mate Initially I’d turned all but two off Living room and bed 2 were the problem ones, when all others off they were piping hot. I’ve switched all to your recommendations 1/4 and 1/3 I’ll let you know the outcome Keep us updated mate.

Have you turned other rads off & checked to see if they get hot all over? Sorry, I can’t be bothered to read through the whole thread again If I switch all but the cold one off it gets piping Agreed PB, Me too thinks it's looking like a balancing issue now. Wingnut, with all the other rad lockshields turned off and the cold radiator still piping hot gradually go round the lockshields one at a time opening the lockshield just 1\4 of a turn and wait to see what happens to the cold radiator after bringing each one on (one at a time) keeping the cold radiator hot all the way. May take a while to do this but if it works! I'm now thinking that those new radiators are robbing the others of heat (maybe they have a less resistance to flow).

if you have 8mm feeding those big rads, thats where the probem lays mate, upgrade those to 10mm at least, 8mm is also easy to get kinks in at the installation so there might be another reason,

It's sounds well out of balance ! The old school rad sounds like it is stealing loads of heat/flow. Flow is the problem, there is not enough. Just shut the school rad off and see what happens.

Have you taken any of the TRV heads off to see if the needle valve isn't seized on the part of the valve attached to the rad?
Post up a picture of your type of TRVs fitted.

With the head off how difficult is it to move the valve in the housing - note it should only move 5mm approx from fully open to fully closed.
