I always say to people that a tap is a tap whether you spend £40 or £400. This Franke tap I swapped out today is five years old and the spout is completely pin holed, at the time it cost £200 and is shite. I've fitted loads of cheap taps and they are still in service. I carry the screwfix "contract or sometimes called commercial taps" on my van as stock. We get very little trouble with them and they are repairable. www.screwfix.com/p/h-c-turn-bath-taps-pair/65971Good or even better than anything else today I reckon. The oldies like the levers on them and I tell the up market customers that lever taps are very fashionable!

That's one hell of a price for water cylinders!!
Yet some people will pay for it.....fools and their money I guess...."Table Water" indeed!!!!
The water authorities in the UK guarantee to supply drinkable water at our taps although it can taste heavily chlorinated at times I'll admit.
Tappy,

If it's a medicinal need I understand but some people really don't know how or when to stop wasting their money!

Does anyone know if it is possible to repair this tap? To stop is dribbling when closed, you have to really twist and push down on the lever - often times people don't and it is left to drain the HWC !
Thinking about getting around to doing something about it. I can isolate the water no problem but I can't get access underneath to replace unless I take the bath and tiles out - have no replacement tiles either.
It _might_ be an old "Ideal Standard" tap since everything else in that bathroom is. Any ideas?
Edit: Looks like the cartridges for them are stupid money (over a hundred !!!) so might have to take bath out and put some temporary taps there and tiles until I get around to doing the whole bathroom unless there is a better way?

Thanks a lot Battle!
I trimmed down your link to this. Is it the same one?

£55 (inc vat) + delivery. Quite a lot. Looks like I might have to bite the bullet and put a new cheap tap there and odd matching tiles until I get around to doing that bathroom completely.

Cheers Battle I might well do that. Are cartridges generally impossible to fix or re-seat somehow? This one does look like its got rubber o-rings on it...
Just wondering if I should maybe first get mine out and have a play then decide whether to pay up. Although looking around even "cheap" new bath mixers aren't that cheap.

If you've got the time just take it apart - Orings are cheap so possible to repair cheaply. I've taken similar items apart and leaving over night in white vinegar has cured the issue but each jobs different so once apart make your mind up.
