Couple of mills maybe ? Total guess but maybe PB and Dick were thinking of the 12mm coupler which I'm also guessing might have fitted.. Anyway, Toolstation ones fit perfectly. My tails are definitely 3/8" - confirmed by Grohe document and also that they fit the toolstation 3/8 adapter. For those struggling to get a good night's sleep, there is this to read: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Standard_Pipe

From that table for the hard of sleeping (!!) I wonder was the nut size on the tails 22mm or 23mm. That could be where the problem was. For 3/8 inch fasteners it says nut can be 22mm or 23mm. Yours must have been 23mm so that's why it was too big?

I have fitted many 3/8 tails to a 10/15 mm coupler, most three way taps are 3/8 tails, never had a problem.

I've still got the adapters. According to my verniers, nut on the tails is 24mm Nut on the 10mm coupler is 22mm Just also tried 10mm coupler nut on the 3/8 toolstation adapter threads and as expected nut is too small.

It's probably just the Screwfix cheap made import brass fittings with the 10mm side machined down to the bare minimum, hence why your tap tail nut didn't fit.

Hard to do with one hand. Tried to show in the first bit pusing the nut that came with it won't slip on but the tails nut slips straight over it. I hope you can trust me that the last attempt to turn the nut failed. Not in the video for some reason.
Edit: I probably should have said it goes without saying I know PB and even Dick wasn't trying to wind me up and gave me the info in good faith. I suspect they're still probably right and I've done something stupid OR as said maybe the couplers were duff.

Well I've got them safely fitted now BUT dsfjdsflkjsafdl;kjadsf I forgot to flush the fking pipework. Connected hot first just to double check I'd got them the right way round, turned the tap on and it pissed out yellow shit that I guess was actually flux. £45 bloody quid's worth of bathroom tap fked up due to garbage shoved up it ! Flow was poor. 8-( . Flushed the cold but think it was too late. I haven't taken it to pieces yet but unscrewed the filter at the end of the spout - that was covered in crap. When I cleaned that up I'd say the flow doubled at least. Question is though will all that flux have gone right threough the tap and cartridge and would it be restricting flow or should it flush through? Was this tap: www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00WBIH962What a bloody idiot I am !!!!!

And can I commend you on your choice of tap. You obviously appreciate quality and are a man of impeccable taste. Just like me, because I have those same taps in my gaff.
Grohe taps are so good, you'll be handing them down to your grandchildren.
