So, he’s signing off your work, both you & him should be prosecuted. It’s illegal to do any Gas Work without being GS Registered. Us poor bastards need to pay annual fees, pay for calibrated equipment etc & get re-assessed every five years for cowboy cunts like you to steal work from legitimate guys!!! Surely no one supports this Illegal Gas Work??!!

Always use a Gas Safe Registered engineer, to ensure we are the highest paid Tradesmen & can rip people off at our leisure👍👍👍 You said it ! Plus to ensure Gassafe themselves can cream off a lot of that cash. Dicking around with electrics is more dangerous. How come jonny custard is allowed to do all sorts of stuff that would kill him dead if he didn't isolate properly? Or burn the house down if he did something else wrong? And where is the MechanicsSafe. Seems anyone is allowed to work on brakes, crack open an engine etc etc - vehicles are lethal. Roofsafe? You could go on and on.... If contravening the building regulations was illegal you could call the police "...my neighbour is trying to install a gas hob can you arrest him ....?" and get done for wasting their time. That said if you're a true Dafty like me, you'd take the time to work out what to do and at the very least do a tightness test. Tom has a fantastic video on it somewhere. Can only guess what the tests needed are on each appliance and can only guess whether a GS engineer would both doing them for a hob replacement? Maybe if a new appliance then pressure might drop elsewhere such as at the boiler which could be an issue? Shame some of the GSI don't like to discuss these things in case they lose business to the diy daftys.

I did state what’s required regarding testing the existing remaining appliances Dafty, however, Dollop is not qualified or competent to do this work. Therefore, he’s carrying out an illegal installation & should be prosecuted. My role is not to make the laws & Regulations, my role is to comply with them & extort money from people because of them.

Youre such a drama queen dick. If i were fitting stuff dangerously and/or for money you might have a point however its to get my mates kitchen back in one peice and save the gas man some time meaning he can come sooner to get the hob and boiler back online. He is still getting paid and everything will be properly checked and tested by a qualified and competant person. Its already been tested myself using correct procedure (check for let by, allow stabilisation and no perceptible loss) which it passed with all appliance iso's open. The system was left unpressurised and all appliances turned off waiting for commissioning/servicing. No ones is in danger, ripped off or done out of a wage and i get to help a friend and their family move out of temporary accommodation and into their new home sooner. Also i have the added bonus of winding up the resident wind up merchant. Everyones a winner.

I can't remember the actual words but, it goes something like this, If you are working on gas as part of your business, you must be registered with gassafe, So as you are a plasterer, its nothing to with with dolloping so you're ok,

I always thought that if you do it for free then it's not illegal to do your own gas work (although you wouldn't be able to register it on the internet). A bit of a minefield really init?
I've given up gas work now (after a falling out with the gaffer over money), but I have installed many gas appliances over the last 40 years and to say that I'm now incompetent to do gas work because I no longer have a badge is just plain silly.
However, I do have it on good authority that this whole pay money, pass exam, get badge, become competent, is being re-examined at an high level and will be changing again in the near future.

too late for us mate, but it does need to change, trouble is, the people who make the rules, also like to make money, so there will still be a cost to the plumber, they'll only jiggle it about like Corgi/gassafe did,

I even gave them the tube and tap for free and picked up their appliances. To be fair though they fed and watered me and their mother is making me a fancy chocolate cake but thats what friends are for. One day you might get one and find out for yourself.
