Hi everyone. What is best practice for isolation on a gas hob. As far as i am aware its not necessary but thinking it is better to have one accesible without having to remove anything to get at it.. some say it is not a good idea as its another fitting that could leak however the union at the hob itself are known for leaking.
What are peoples thoughts?

What about putting the iso behind the back panel of the unit at the side of the cooker/hob with a hole to operate? That would mean having compression fitting not properly accesible for changing/ tightening/leak testing. The iso in this install will be kind of accessible as there is movement on the pipe when unclipped but would need the cooker and housing removing. Or should i just put the iso behind the cooker? The cooker and housing are not fitted yet so would be easy enough to install either way but want to do it the correct way.

Both the valve and compression nuts need to be accessible and which ever way you do it is awkward, there is never a lot of room, To be honest with you, I put shit loads in and accidently on purpose forgot about the valve,

Various Skools of thought on this Dollop. Normal setup is a compression Gas Cock behind the Oven, however on some New Builds the Gas Cock for the Hob must be sited in an adjacent unit, for ease of access.
No Hob should be fitted without a Gas Cock, in fact the Regulations at one point stated it must include a Test Nipple. However, that Reg was short lived.
Always use a Gas Safe Registered engineer, to ensure we are the highest paid Tradesmen & can rip people off at our leisure👍👍👍

Well i split the difference. The iso is behind the cooker but accessible by removing the little filler under the cooker.
