....Got this internal down pipe to change, does anyone recognise this coupler? I'm worried it's asbestos, initially I thought it was cast but when I tapped it with my finger it sounds light weight.

Looks dodgy alright! My Dad has an asbestos soil stack that looks very similar from the 1960s When you said light weight to tap that seems to be what they're like. Let us know when you find out from the experts.

Mind Endfeed jobs like those typically follow this type of format to get a result! The "bloke from Poland" there reminded me of my gorilla-like brother-in-law who is from Ukraine. Thick as thick can be, clumsy and built like a brick shithouse and helpful as long as he doesn't break anything or put his foot through the ceiling as has already happened. Smokes at least 40 a day. When he was over one time a couple of years ago, can't remember why but needed to clean up some external roofing soffit or similar which I think is asbestos. I warned him and he just shrugged, boomed out "Ahhhh.....AzBezt" then proceeded to sand it getting dust everywhere ....

It's a 60-70 year old care homeπππ Yeah. Could be the dreaded then I've done some research on this pipe rocky, turns out it's called fibre pitch pipe, made wood, yes wood, cellulose impregnated with coal tar pitch, with asbestos bound within the coal tar pitch! After time it blisters and leaks. Sound like a paper mashay to meπ²
