Its the 3 bar negative head jobbie £349.99, I fitted it early December last year and got the call tonight (yes Sunday) while I was having my tea that the stupid thing has packed up. Went round there and its humming away and the case is red hot, no taps or shower on and non dripping.
I don't want Salamander involved if I can help it as I had to cut the plug off to wire it into the existing FCU where the previous Salamander was fitted for 12 years, I'm going to buy a black plug and the correct fuse and hope the counter rats don't spot it.

yes they will, take the reciept and they will refund , no questions asked, they give a full 12 months guarantee on THEIR terms and conditions, it won't involve any inspection from the makers, I've been in the store when a builder brought a mixer in, knocked to fuck, still had cement in, buckled wheels and it looked like it had fell off a cliff, the builder got a full refund, I said to the girl who served him, " he's taking the piss" she replied, " company policy " you'll have no problem ,

I know exactly what you mean wetfinger, screwfix will come good for you, the counter rat will not even know if a plug is fittd or not, they will check the reciept or your account to check the transaction and refund/change and you go out smiling, then the problem is, your time and cost of replacing, will the customer pay ? probably not and screwfix won't either, I just hope you made enough on the initial install, if not, learn from this,

We have a lot of problems these days with electric showers. We post the 2 year guarantee off direct to the makers after fitting and they take over from there, however, any excuse these days invalidate's their guarantee...water pressures too high; water pressures too low, wrong shower head's been fitted (favourite this one); even that the supplied fixing screws have not been used!!! In-fact their guarantee's a bit like an old fashioned used car warranty. Good luck though, and if screwfix do take it back top marks to them !

Screwfix are pretty good. Shouldn’t be a problem. Are you a trade customer with them?
I’ve had a problem with a hedge trimmer, only cheap, buy cheap buy twice, it failed in November after a month or so, took it back as I needed to do a job, they swapped it in December but looked yesterday & there’s red oil on it so it’s going back again this week.

Hope there was enough bread involved.
I wouldn't worry about cutting the plug off as it's not uncommon for pumps to be wired into fused spurs. Would be more concerned that the filters are clear so they can't wriggle out by saying it's contamination that made the pump run dry and fail. If the filters were clear and the install is to instructions I wouldn't hesitate to get Salamander in. Means they do the work in replacing it and take the hassle - and you keep your profit. If they find fault with your install, you can still return the pump to Screwfix for a refund.

Just got back from Screwfix, they refunded no problems and ordered me a new one.
The filters were clear and the impleller was turning but it was humming like when you stop a Scalextric car on the track with the trigger fully on.

I've had Salamander out three times in as many years to three different installs and each time they've jumped at the opportunity, once you give them the pump serial numbers as they have plenty production issues said their engineers! Now the only issues they do winge at is:- if you don't have the strainer/filter installed just before the pump (extra to the hose disc filters) enough capacity for the stored water S tank flange fitted to the cylinder or equivalent although they have still changed the pumps cause the engineer knows it's the product failure years after the original purchase install and they give a five year guarantee on various products.

No mention of putting a strainer on in the manual.
This is the first one I've had fail of using that for 12 years, maybe only fit about 4 a year.

Got the call yesterday the replacement pump has failed so it lasted 3 months same shit.
Its not getting starved, there are no taps running I put the strainers on and the hot water is the correct temp, I took it back to Screwfix and got a refund. Just need to wait now till the Stuart Turner pumps are in stock.
