I've had loads of calls for outside taps last couple of weeks. Think I've done 8 this week, if it wasn't for them I would have only had 2 jobs this week I always use the through wall plates, if you look at it, there's no difference in the winter pipe draining ability between these and a back plate elbow setup. If you drill your hole right it's gonna drain whether its an elbow or a plate. Very rarely have issues with drilling the 3 screw holes to fix it in place. I drill the 20mm hole from the outside so nice clean hole and plenty of space to get your screw holes done as long as you go easy. I use a 4mm masonry bit first in my combi drill as it has a weak hammer action compared to the SDS, then the 6mm in my SDS slides in really easy, if the brick's soft enough I don't use hammer action. Much neater in my opinion and no exposed pipe to freeze up in winter. My local merchants do a bib tap with check valve and 350mm wall plate tube for £11 inc vat.

Reminds me, did one yesterday, tiny kitchen, stop tap in far corner of a one door double unit(i'm 6'2'' and could only just reach it), so much stuff in and on the cupboards it was winding me up. Customer pulled out washing machine and bent all the undersink pipework with the machines fill hose so had to put that back and check for leaks before starting. Took a bit over an hour and a half with all the problems, can do a good one in about 40 minutes usually. Had to park about 100 yards down the street too because of double parking. Proper wound me up. Anyway he was happy when I finished, I even fixed his kitchen tap while there as the bit of the pull out spray hose attached under the sink was less than hand tight and water pished out when used. He gave me a tenner tip on top of my price. Got a text alert off Google a couple of hours later saying he had reviewed my business listing. The twat had only given me 4 out of 5 stars. Feel like dropping some rapid set down his toby....
