Mrs Plums having a shower this morning and all of a sudden gives a scream of displeasure and comes out of the bathroom spitting venom and asking who turned the hot water off, There is only me in the house, well in the garage actually, so It was't me, So I went investigating and found the combi has gone off, So I got out my tools and diagnosed the control board, How I worked that out was, the pump was running but, the fan was not, I checked the power to the fan and it had no power , So I checked it had 240v to the pump, which it had, so I figured it must be the board, So after going to HRP and paying £153 I was totally taken aback when it did't work, realy annoyed with myself for paying for a part that, I now cannot take back, So I played about shorting out sensors and micro switches to find the culprit but I could not work out why the fan will not go, Soon the red mist came and I ripped the fucker off the wall, New boiler time, £568 for a new Main 25KW combi , At the present time, its on the wall and 25% plumbed in.
I need a drink,,,,,, beer drinker
ahhh thats better,

Good job
Parts are expensive & a new boiler for £568 will last
What’s the warranty on it?

the warrantee is 5 years but not worth the paper its written on because, for the warranttee to be valid, I have to register it with gassafe, I cannot do that because my registration is out of date, I've all confidence this new boiler will do at least 12 years, that one I evicted gave me 16 years loyal service, without a service, A few weeks back i changed the diverter and, with hindsight, I should have evicted then, but hey I'm not mystic Meg

Difficult, tough and expensive day for you Tom.
However, it's not like you to just replace the boiler after investing previous time and money into the diverter valve (DV)repair.
My first port of call would be to any electrical connections or switches disturbed during the recent DV replacement.
May be it could be put on the bench and we could work through it to find the issues when you have the new bolier up and running and Mrs Plum off your back?

in years passed i would have looked into it further but, now i have more important things going on. I've booked a 2 day camping holiday in he lake district and this has put me under pressure, I can't go off and leave the old girl with no hot water, I'll give you a good tip battle, never retire, I'm working 24/7 since i retired, there is no time to myself,

sorry to hear this tom, fookin shite having to fork out for something like a boiler! Looking on the bright side, how much you've saved with your skills, British gas would of been rubbing there hands together to fit that. The fault finding video was awesome! If you could do more videos of your thought process when finding faults would be ace!!👍

Bad luck, Tom. As you say, one day you're the pigeon, other days you're the statue. Board was a likely suspect, but at least you can get the new board on Ebay and recoup some beer tokens for the hol.

Sorry Tom I’ve not been around over the last few days or I’ve helped you out with the diagnostics & fault finding. Why not hang the fucker up in your Den & we’ll do some checks on it? Or does the Scrappy already have it?? Enjoy your wee break👍👍

When I threw it out of the door, I only had to wait half an hour when a scrappy knocked on the door, he was like a tramp on a kipper, just out of interest Dick, where did my logic go wrong ?
