It’s looking good
I went into Wickes to look at the kitchens
The Indian woman looked at me took a dislike
She asked my budget & I said it depends on the kitchen. Then she said it’ll be @£12,000 for the units, £5000 for 6 Electrolux appliances & then the gold medal comment want £5000 for fitting with removal of old kitchen extra
She must’ve thought I was a mental case
No thx Wickes

Thanks Rocky. Those prices do sound totally crazy but some people will pay them because the kitchen is the "big ticket" item in the home and compared to the value of the house is still small.
Obvisouly most people don't want to fit it all themselves so what I would always advise my mates is don't get an overall package with kitchen, fitting, etc all in. Buy the kitchen separately, then get recommended plumbers, sparks, plasterers, tilers etc (maybe paint yourself). It will come in at half the price and you'll get a better all round job by local tradesmen who hopefully will be around after the job is done.

Can't remember if I said but I'm paying 2.8K for my cabinets. Fully assembled glued and screwed, 22mm thick with decent soft close hinges, specifiy colour inside the carcass not just the door, solid backs not that cardboard/hardboard stuff etc etc and made in the UK. That's for L shaped kitchen 4.5M by 3.2M so not tiny.

Don't read anything into the name - the worst thing about them is their name because it doesn't describe their product. What they are actually offering is higher quality than the competition for the same price. I got it from www.diy-kitchens.com. To me that name suggests poor quality but its the opposite. They have literally thousands of pictures and videos of customers' kitchens. Trustpilot says its good, random google searches say its good and I sometimes go onto mumsnet because if the ladies there say something is good thats what counts and they say its good. I mean if and when I sell my house it ain't gonna be a man who decides whether my kitchen is any good its likely gonna be a posh woman

For fks fking sake! My name is going back to Dafty and is staying there!
I can't believe it. I was mixing up some sbr to prime the floor before using self levelling compound. Never done it before. I needed 3:1. So I use a cup to pour 3 amounts of water into a small bucket. Then I filled the cup again with 1 load of sbr. Only I forgot to add it to the mix in the bucket. Worse than that I did a 1/3 of the fking floor just painting on water with paint brush! Only realised when I saw the sbr standing there in the cup.

What you don't think we all don't get bad days - keep the new name, you've earned it and that error goes down to a time and motion study so you now know how long that part of the job will take!

One of my old bosses used to say, " every dog has its day", and that is true, you get good and bad days, everyone does, even Boris Johnson

hope this video helps. The guy is brilliant. If you are cutting in the scribes first time..try a bit of scrap...and new router cutter.

I've watched that already and it is good - that guy is good. To me though there is a little bit, just a little bit of over-complicating to make him look better instead of helping you. Good tip on the scrap! And my 12.7mm router cutter has been used once on a hardwood worktop. Do you reckon it won't be sharp enough for the new chipboard one? It needs to be absolutely brand new?
