Gas will be cheaper but with an old/traditional system like mine, turning it on means basically all the rooms getting heated.
I'm thinking of the situation when all the family are to bed and I'm up in the "computer room" boring you all with my aircon posts on here. Could be there for 2 or 3 hours and don't want the rest of heating on. Then I go to watch Tom Plum on the big screen for another hour or two and would like that one heated. Most of the time darn sarf it doesn't get that cold outside but still nice to raise the internal temp from say 17 to a lovely warm 22.....
Whats peeing me off a little at the moment is it seems you can get a big brand name split aircon for £500 (in and out like with Dick's link above) but if you want wifi which you will if you have a long term plan of several rooms covered, then you've got to pay another £200 basically just for the Wifi !

You're bang on the money (as usual)) dd and it should be perfect for taking that cold edge off a cold summers night very cheaply.

FFS Dafty, have you never fitted a SONOF switch? I’d of thought even you could wire something like that for Wi-Fi control of a AC unit?

Can't see it changing the temperature or integrating all the units so you can control them together like the main programmer/stat on a regular CH heating system. My search will continue. I'm sure one of the big names have done this as charging hundreds per unit just for wifi is nonsense.

Nice one battle, they look good👍👍👍 I’m not too sure our friend Dafty is quite aware of the possibilities in the case of controls. He does tend to ‘overthink’ some things & be a wee bit hard of thinking with regards others. As I’ve said, the logic of an 8 year old, but we love him never the less.

Well I've put my money where my mouth is and bought a Mitshbish HI system from these guys: www.basildonacr.co.uk/product/mitsubishi-heavy-wall-mounted-air-conditioning-srk35zsp-w-src35zsp-w-3-5kw-12000btu-standard-a-inverter-r32/And another multi split system with one outdoor and 2 indoor units. I tried first to get it on amazon. Asked the guy selling the same system if he also sells the multi-splits. Seemed friendly and got to the point where he listed all the model numbers and price. I said "ok I'd like to go ahead how do I pay?..." . THen I heard nothing for days. So moved on. The Basildon AC people at least took my money on Sunday but I've heard nothing since. Its all Paypal so I'm not worried about losing it but all a bit annoying as can't plan. You'd think folk would be more keen to take my 1.7grand. I think the heatwave isn't helping me.

Just in case anyone sees this in the next few hours, any thoughts on sealing the line set? (That is one 1/4" and one 3/8" pipe along with drain hose and cable).
Instructions say drill 65mm hole which I will do but they also say to use some kind of sleaving and collar which screw together and look ideal but don't think you can buy them here.
I've seen a lot of HVAC guys just run the pipes through the wall but the wall is often wooden and mine is a cavity brick/block wall. All the pipes are insulated and then wrapped together in a tape so I guess I could pass them through like that without damage and seal at either end but don't want to here noise through that hole as we live on a busy road.
I wonder if I could spray some expanding foam in first then seal at either end then cap with the trunking wall cap?
