I remember back in the 1970's and i was among teams of plumbers converting old coal back boiler water heaters to new gas fired back boiler units with front fire, the dust soot was everywhere and me, being a new plumber, tried to keep my flux clean, this old timer plumber I was working with did't give a fuck, he used to get chips everyday for his dinner and eat them with his black hands, he had big hands as black as the ace of spades, he never used a flux brush, always smeared Laco on with his fingers, I never seen him wash his hands ever, his flux tub had, soot , brick dust, paint flakes, fag ends ( he smoked as well) he never used the top to cover it, once he opened a new tub, the top got thrown away, he was ruff as arseholes but he did't have many leaks, each of his soldered joints looked like they'd been nuclear attacked, he'd heat them till they were at melting point and put twice as much solder on as needed, then a bit more, I remember the older guys called him Boris Cockloft, I learned from him that, a bit of shit never hurt anyone,,  |

No boris cockloft was a monster of a man, 22 stones, he was as fast at plumbing as the best but not very good at getting in a loft, hence the name, But he would get in and do the work needed, never one to say " I can't get in there", he was a top plumber, He worked till he was 65 then retired and had a heart attack shortly after, A true working hero,  |

I just bore a 15mm hole in the lid of my tub & leave the brush in there.
It’s hard on the brushes, but appears to keep the shite out the flux EF👍👍

Who needs that fancy expensive fluxunater!!!I love it when a plan comes together! |
