The Yankees use Sure Sweat capsules. Same Idea as bread, but won't clog. You stuff one up the pipe to stop the water so you can solder. After soldering, I believe you warm the area of pipe with the Sure Sweat inside and it starts dissolving the capsule.

Yes, I think when you've finished soldering you heat the pipe with torch where the capsule is inside and it makes it start to dissolve. The water flow in the pipe will then make it dissolve completely.

Here my old Alkie uncle Hamish showing you how to make various ones. I favour the ‘by pass’ one, it looks the easiest to make & the most risk free. You can control the flow of water better too.
Ive seen another video of using a silicone hose & compressed air to make a balloon in the pipe, that looks good also. However, I can’t find the fucking video!!
