I don’t agree the WB are crap.
My last combi was in 17 years and only went wrong once & I used the WB fixed price fix. Can’t complain about the service. Everything was good.
I moved out of the house 2 years ago so I don’t know if things are still ok.
I’m now running a WB heat only and it seems decent.
Vaillant are probably the best make with the cheaper makes like glow worm behind WB.
They’re like cars, buy a newish good make & it might be trouble from the start. Buy an old shitter and it might run forever.
No one knows.

Maybe some manufacturers have a better reputation than others?

i have phoned WB they asked for serial number and couldn't do anything without seral number. I looked every where on boiler and couldn't find one. Then i looked through all te paperwork i found and gave them a serial number which ws 20 digits long they said it has to be 23 digits long and could do nothing for me. without water and heating for a few days and WB are saying that number is critical

Sounds to me as if WB have a few "Get Out" clauses in the small print aj.
I'm no expert on these combs aj but I would often get into conversation with those who are and I know the air pressure switch is a popular thing to go wrong with them which will close the boiler down like yours is.
Good luck with the boiler aj.

AJ, do any actual fault codes come up on it, or is it just flashing led’s ?
