Any ideas how to fix it or whats wrong with it? Whooshitter Botch aj, a pile of expensive 💩💩!! Mind you, they’ve done very well Marketing their products. They own a very big share of BOXT too. Fans are a common fault on them & the Heat Exchanger needs to be as clean as Nun’s Knickers. They need regular Servicing, with new gaskets etc every time. if some Chancer has just done a ‘Poke n Print’ service on it, it’ll need the Full Monty strip down service. WB do a Fixed Price Repair for £280, which can be well worth it if the PCB or Fan is fucked. They turn up with a Van full of Spares & leave you with a Guaranteed repair. HTH I hate repairing WB boilers, but their Spares are cheaper than most manufacturers & their Technical support is very good. With WB boilers, you’re paying double the price of a better boiler.

Thank you Dick, I did't know they did a fixed price fix, £280 aint bad if its a lot of faults, fan.gas valve, heat exchanger, control board etc, most parts are over £100 now,

dick, tom, and others. Can it be a simple job suh as cleaning the condesare from inside the boiler Any Service history AJ? Do you have someone you normally use for Gas Work/Boiler repairs? As I said, in my experience; Fans are a common problem. However, as these boilers are Pre-mix Gas fans, you really need to know your Onions with them. Unlike the old SE type boilers, where the Fan was on the burner outlet. It’s a gamble getting a Fixed Price repair, but with the guarantee & the knowledge it’s 100%, it maybe your best route. I’m fairly confident with most boilers, but the burners on WB boilers & generally, they’re poorly designed.

dick, tom, and others. Can it be a simple job suh as cleaning the condesare from inside the boiler no mate, if its been in a while then only frost will stop boiler by icing the pipe up, There's been no frost lately so. its not a simple job, If you have water pressure 1.5 or above, gas and eclectic then you can try a 'reset', if that don't work, you need a Pro fixer and Dick's suggestion of a fixed price repair sounds good, Its the way of the World AJ , somedays you're the statue and somedays you're the pigeon..

British Gas usually send a salesman round, disguised as a boiler service technician. He’ll open the boiler up, peer into it for a few minutes, then scratch his head. “ Sorry sir, they don’t make parts for this boiler anymore.” “ trying to find parts for this is almost impossible these days,,,, rarer than rocking horse shit.” ,,,,,, “ However, all is not lost. Just sign this contract and we’ll fit a brand new boiler, once the weather gets a bit warmer.” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😉

I've got a 20 year old Ideal RD1 boiler. Its gone wrong a few times but I could usually fix it (mostly with the help from folk on this forum). The last time was the fan, and found a bloke on ebay specialising in refurbished ones. The change itself like everything else I've done was dead simple.
Tom once told me to keep it and from what I hear about the newer plastic-based boilers I'm glad I followed his advice. BUT now I'm paying stupid money for the gas so wondering how much I would save with a modern condesning boiler? I'm half tempted to start a new project along those lines and run it alongside the existing (in the garage) through some kind of valve so I can chose which of the two to run.
Sorry for the ramble on your thread AJ....
